Brownie If you are planning to do this in July you are nuts! Lol. I guess it might be cool compared to Iraq! Plan on 100 + temps especially in the bottom of the canyon. It might be reasonable at the start but I would suggest starting very early in the morning. The run is great! incredible views! steep with sheer drop off’s in places! Mule trains have the right of way and will slow you down but they kick & bite so give the right of way to them... Water Bring a hydration system of some sort. There is usually water available at the following places: Indian Gardens, the landing, Phantom Ranch, (Phantom ranch though remote has just about any thing else you could possibly want bagels, sandwiches, lemonade, coke, beer, souvenir’s all packed in by mule train…) Cotton wood camp, Check in with the rangers, That being said when I was there the rain polluted the water or flash floods broke a pipe or something & water was an issue at cotton wood & Phantom ranch but I was carrying 70 oz when full & it was reasonably cool so it didn’t affect me too much.. a friend of mine went through 5 liters, you could get stream water but unless you have a fool proof way to sanitize it I wouldn’t chance it with all of the mules people & other critters down there its sure to make you sick. This is a national park so is very over crowded.. although most people just go to the view point & look over… look for buzzards circling & your sure to find some tourist totally un prepared who walked down hill to the gardens or river & has to be rescued by the rangers.

Nice! Thinking of doing this later on this year, how hard was it to refil on water?
